8-Channel Data Acquisition (DAQ) Board – HX711-Based

Fantastic to see you're checking out my brand-new 8-channel Data Acquisition (DAQ) board!

With this custom PCB, you can connect up to 8 load cells or strain gauges for your own experiments and projects. It’s based on the popular — and quite possibly familiar — HX711 breakout boards, widely used for beginner and advanced measurement setups alike.

In fact, my own helicopter instrumentation journey (yes, that AW-95 project!) began with those very same HX711 boards. While great for prototyping, I quickly ran into issues with reliability and cable management. That’s why I created this integrated solution.

Key Features:

  • 8 independent channels, each with a robust RJ45 connector for secure and clean wiring.

  • Built-in ESP32-S3-Mini-1 microcontroller, pre-flashed with firmware that streams data directly over USB (USB-C cable not included).

  • Flexible power options:

    1. USB-C (5V)

    2. Low-voltage input (4V–6V)

    3. Wide-range input via onboard buck converter (6V–36V)

  • User-accessible I/O pins for adding custom features.

  • Easily reprogrammable: Add SD card logging, wireless data transmission, or custom protocols as you like.

  • Compact design: Board size is 110mm x 65mm with M3 mounting holes spaced 75mm x 55mm.

  • 3D-printable casings will be available soon!

Whether you're building a custom test bench, a structural monitoring setup, or just love experimenting with sensors — this DAQ board provides a clean and flexible solution to get data fast.

Disclaimer

From a hobbyist to a hobbyist.

I'm offering this board to help young engineers, scientists, students, and fellow hobbyists get started in the amazing — yet sometimes challenging — world of structural measurement. Professionally calibrated, high-precision DAQ systems often cost one or two orders of magnitude more than this board. This is my way of giving back and making experimentation more accessible.

That said, please understand: this board is not intended to compete with professional-grade DAQ systems. It’s a well-engineered and thoughtfully designed tool, but you should always use your own engineering judgment to determine whether it’s suitable for your specific project or application.

While every effort has been made to ensure this DAQ board is functional, reliable, and well-documented, no warranties are expressed or implied.

By purchasing, building, or using this product, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for any outcomes resulting from its use — including, but not limited to, construction, modification, installation, operation, or integration into other systems.

Use of this board is entirely at your own risk. I do not accept any liability for damage, malfunction, injury, or any other consequences arising from the use or misuse of this product or any derivative works based on it.
